Megan’s Journey
Megan's journey has been marked by determination and faith in God
Megan's life took a new direction when she moved from Salt Lake City to Cincinnati, seeking fresh opportunities. However, relocating to a new city wasn't easy. Megan faced the challenge of leaving behind everything familiar, arriving in Cincinnati with limited resources and uncertainty about what lay ahead. Despite these obstacles, she found strength in her family's support and her passion for construction. Determined to build a better future, she joined CityLink's Habitat for Humanity Construction Training Program.
But the early days were tough. A long bus ride and a sudden downpour left her drenched on her way to class, highlighting the difficulties of starting over. Thankfully, Holly, her program director, stepped in with dry clothes from donated items, sparking Megan's resilience and determination.
With newfound confidence, Megan honed her skills through the program and quickly transitioned to a fulfilling role at Habitat for Humanity, where she built homes for families in need. However, commuting to job sites using public transportation became a challenge. That’s when Lonna, our Program Coordinator at ChangingGears, connected her with a much-needed truck. This vehicle not only made her commute easier but also helped her as a mom and provided storage for her work tools.
Megan's journey is a testament to her resilience and the support she received from people like Holly, Robin, Lonna, and Mr. Bill from Habitat. With their help, she advanced to a superintendent position, overseeing home-building projects and sharing in the joy of handing keys to new homeowners.
Now, Megan dreams of building a home for children in need, offering them a safe and nurturing environment. Her journey from Salt Lake City to Cincinnati is a story of new beginnings, shaped by the community's support and her unwavering determination.
