How to Become a Client
All clients are referred to ChangingGears from one of our Partner Organizations. Our programs has unique benefits and requirements, but we collaborate with Partner Organizations so are clients are:
Completely Supported
A car alone or a job by itself is not enough, which is why our clients are required to engage at a Partner Organization so they have access to the holistic support services necessary for sustainable life change.
Financially Prepared
Our clients are required to complete financial counseling through one of our Partner Organizations. This builds budgeting skills to handle all of the expenses of owning a car, and good financial habits as they advance in their careers.
Career Ready
We focus on empowering clients who are working towards prosperity. Therefore all of our clients must be employed or working towards employment by engaging in a career training program at one of our Partner Organizations.

For clients who need an affordable car to get to work.
Donated cars are restored and sold to approved clients
Cars sold at half of retail value with a no interest loan
Financing options specific to client’s employment situation
Clients have access to the Repair Program

Valid Driver’s License
Smart Money classes & 1:1 financial counseling
Full coverage car insurance is required until the loan is paid off

Repair Program
For clients who have a car that needs repairs or maintenance.
Includes a free vehicle assessment
Repairs cost about half of what a typical repair shop would charge for the same repair
Service is performed by a Certified Technician

Career Training
Automotive Technician Training Program
Free 4-week training in collaboration with CityLink
Hands on training with ChangingGears ASE Master Technicians enables students to master the basics of oil changes and tire repair & replacement
Connections to local employers for shadowing experiences and job opportunities
Includes soft skills training and supporting services from CityLink Center
