From Phlebotomy to a Bigger Dream

As a mom of two young daughters, Shaunya is determined to build a better future for her family. When she reconnected with CityLink in 2025, she was ready to learn a new skill and take the next step in her career.

Shaunya began phlebotomy classes in January, but unreliable transportation made moving forward difficult. Through her connection with ChangingGears, Tony helped keep her on the road with repairs, guidance, and plenty of encouragement.

Shaunya completed her classes in March and is now working at UC Health West Chester—a job she loves because of the opportunity to connect with patients and brighten their day.

And she’s not stopping there! Her experience has inspired her to continue her education and pursue a career in diagnostic medical sonography.

Most recently, Shaunya purchased a Chevy Sonic through ChangingGears’ Bridge Program, giving her reliable transportation for the road ahead.

Her advice to others? “It might be hard now, but look toward the future. Know what your goals are and be ready to make a difference in your life.”
