His hunger is inspiring!

Daniel’s Fresh Start

Daniel knew he needed a fresh start and he was ready to work hard for it! He initially connected with ChangingGears through our Auto Technician Training Program and graduated with flying colors in November 2022. During this time, Daniel was also able to purchase a Yaris through our Vehicle Purchase Program. 

Daniel worked hard and excelled during the Auto Technician Training and received a job offer from Joseph Toyota before graduating. During this 4 week training program, students go on tours of different types of automotive facilities and businesses and this is how Daniel decided he wanted to work for Joseph Toyota. Since working there, he has completed 20 Toyota training courses (outside of his normal work schedule), has earned multiple pay increases and now works at a flat rate which is much more gainful than hourly. He started as a lube and tire technician and has moved into completing big repairs!

He continues to work hard and push for more, he’s hungry! Recently, Toyota offered Daniel a paid training to specialize in hybrid vehicles and he jumped at the opportunity. Daniel has worked so hard that his coworkers have asked him to slow down because he’s making them look bad, but he stays the course. Daniel’s faithful work ethic and hunger to grow is inspiring. 

And guess what else? He’s super KIND too! This student & client of ChangingGears makes friends with everyone, including the vending machine worker who now gives him free poptarts and other snacks on a regular basis. Daniel loves to share his story with others too, including our current Auto Tech Training students who got to tour Joseph Toyota two weeks ago. He was happy to host our students, give them the tour and answer every question they had. 

Daniel is an inspiration to our CG team, our students, his coworkers and hopefully you too!
