Five years ago, Violet found herself at a crossroads. She had been working as a CNA and felt completely burnt out from the medical field. Violet knew she needed a change but wasn't sure where to start. Then, through word of mouth, she heard about CityLink. The idea of stepping into something new, something different, excited her.
Violet learned about the CityLink Per Scholas program and wanted to try something new. The shift in direction felt refreshing, and soon, opportunities started opening up.
Just as she was getting started at CityLink & Per Scholas, her car broke down. It was yet another obstacle, but she refused to let it stop her. That's when she met Michelle Abernathy from Smart Money at CityLink. Michelle wasn't just someone who helped her get a car—she was an encourager and motivator who helped Violet believe she wasn't stuck. With a reliable vehicle, she could focus on school, work, and building her future. This collaboration is a testament to the power of community support in overcoming challenges.
She purchased a Toyota Camry from ChangingGears when her old car died and commuted to Per Scholas daily. There were no more worries about getting to school or work; her focus was where it needed to be. That car became more than just a mode of transportation—it was a symbol of her progress, a tangible reminder of how far she had come.
She started a new job where every day brought new challenges. She rose to the occasion and is thriving in her new role. It wasn't just about learning new skills but proving she could step into something unfamiliar and succeed.
Today, Violet is working at You Pic Solutions in Blue Ash. She loves it there. It's a small nonprofit with a strong sense of community, where people genuinely support and encourage one another. It's the kind of place where she feels like she belongs.
Violet loved the Camry she purchased from ChangingGears, but it was time for an upgrade. The car held too much sentimental value to sell, and one day, God told her to DONATE it BACK to ChangingGears, so she didn't hesitate. She was also inspired by one of her company's values: helping others who help others who help others! Violet is grateful for CityLink, ChangingGears, and the people who removed barriers and helped her move forward. Her journey wasn't always easy, but she wants others to know it's possible.
